Guinness World Records chili 2021: Carolina Reaper!

The Carolina Reaper chili is officially the hottest in the world. Its original name would be HP22B (High Power Pot, Number 22, Pant B).

The first specimen was born in South Carolina. It averages 1,569,300 SHU and on average reaches 2,200,000 SHU.

What makes it so spicy?

Our friend capsaicin is responsible for the spiciness of chili and has been known since 1816. It is a chemical compound that produces a burning sensation on all tissues with which it comes into contact. The feeling has a scale on which it is measured: the Scoville scale.

There are various types of chilli that are distinguished by the level of spiciness, sweet pepper and sweet paprika that are at the base we pass the Habanero (ranging between 350,000 and 850,000) and finally at the top of the list we have the Carolina Reaper.

Capsaicin is also used in low-dose pepper spray to counteract parasites on certain animals such as deer, bears and dogs.

The most passionate and experienced are working to create a chili even more aphrodisiac and explosive than the Carolina Reaper. It is difficult to imagine a fruit that is higher than the spiciness of 2,200,000, but surely sooner or later we will know another...
